Looks like the actor-turned-politician Vijayakanth just earned himself a new fan from the film fraternity! Lyricist Puthumaipithan is all smiles about the respect Captain Vijayakanth accorded him at the audio launch of Vikraman’s ‘Mairyadhai’.

“I’m glad that he called me on the dais and thank him for it. I also consider myself lucky and thank Dr MGR for giving me the opportunity to pen the song "Inbame Undhan Per Penmaiyo" in the 1975-film ‘Idhayakani’. The song has been remixed for ‘Mariyadhai’, whose audio was launched at a grand function held on Firday.

Heaping praise on Vijayakanth for giving him all the ‘Mariyadhai’ he deserved, as the original lyricist of the song, he lauded the captain for finely balancing cinema and politics.

‘Mariyadhai’, directed by Vikraman, features Vijayakanth in a dual role, along with Ambika, Meena and Meera Jasmine to play his love interests. Raj Television Network has bought the film from Amma Creations, its original producers. The film is slated to be released on April 10.
